Gift Wishlist 2

Published: September 16, 2022

Idea:

Like the Honeymoon Registry, but a gift wishlist for content creators and/or eurotriprs. Users add items to wish list with dollar amounts of those gifts. They share the link with fans/friends/family. Fans can then contribute toward the gifts by paying $X for the gift (or paying for it out right). The GIFT is not bought – CASH is given to the user. It is simply a means for fans/family to give cash to the user with the idea they are contributing to the gifts. 100% of funds go to the creator/eurotripr.

6 Months Later – What Have I learned?

Published: November 3, 2021

I am working on Eurotripr.com - a site to inspire others to travel to Europe. I'm interviewing travelers and sharing their advice and stories from their Eurotrips so others can learn from them and gain confidence to plan their own trips. I'm curating travel info on European destinations so travelers can decide what the best countries/cities/sights are to visit in Europe. I'm curating European travel itineraries so others can streamline the planning process and find the best itineraries for their trips. I'm building a custom itinerary planner, so travelers can create a custom Eurotrip itinerary for themselves. I'm spending WAY...

4 months of indiehacking and I am having regrets

Published: September 8, 2021

I've been building a web app that i hope will be 'NomadList + Indiehackers' specifically for European travels: Eurotripr.com. I quit my job 4 months ago to work on it (have a year's worth of savings to survive on), and have been trying to build out this site with curated data on European destinations and itineraries. I took stock over the weekend and realized a few things: 1. I should have finished a usable MVP 2+ months ago 2. I don't have an end in sight 3. I haven't even started the hard part of promoting it Now I'm beginning...

#75Hard – Day 0

Published: May 31, 2021

I was listening to a recent episode of the Indie Hacker Podcast on which Courtland's guest () talked about completing the #75Hard program. It piqued my interest so I looked at the web site detailing the program. It's a program of maintaining specific habits for 75 days straight without skipping a day, without cheating, and without compromising on the rules mid-way through. The rules are short and simple: Follow a Diet, no junk food, no cheat meals, no alcohol. Work out twice a day, for at least 45 minutes. At least one of these workouts must be an outdoor session....

Pieter Levels Inspired Me to Stop Procrastinating and Start Shipping

Published: May 1, 2021

I’m going to follow in the footsteps of many great indie makers, and build a number of startup projects, one per month, until I find one that gains traction and can be monetized to replace my current income. I currently have multitple startup ideas in mind to build. I’m going to build each startup from scratch, track my progress, screencast my code. I will share my thoughts, processes, experiences, failures, successes (hopefully), and be completely transparent throughout this entire process. Join me along this indie maker journey and maybe along the way get inspired to build your own startup.

How do you find a business idea and motivation to leave the 9-5 grind?

Published: January 25, 2021

Question I often read here of some success stories about people making thousands off of their business idea (usually people who never even got into the 9-5 grind in the first place). 99% of the projects I see of these successful people are things that I would personally never pay for and are some very specific things that I would think already have a solution and I'm genuinely surprised that anyone is paying for. Basically they boil down to a web app offering subscription service to make some menial task slightly more comfortable. 1. How did you come up with...

Getting in Shape with My First Project

Published: October 18, 2020

Back in the Saddle When I was younger, I used to love riding my bike. I'd go off for hours on a beat up BMX bike and ride through muddy trails with friends. I'd tear up and down single track trails, as well as ride 20-30 miles daily on the the road. I'd even strap a backpack with sleeping bag and tent to my back and cycle 80 miles for a camping trip. After I graduated college, I got an office job and have barely ridden my bike. As a web developer, I've fallen into the trap of a more...

Status Update – More of the Same Old Procrastination

Published: October 17, 2020

I started multiple side projects over the last couple months, but have launched none. I'm building a website for my son's Cub Scout Pack. I started a simple web application to track my progress cycling towards my century (a 100 mile ride) goal. I scrapped and restarted my Europe Travel Planning web app. I started to build a job scraper to help pull remote web jobs from big job boards. I started cycling to improve my fitness and lose the weight I've gained over the past 15 years. I was doing so daily, but have recently lost momentum and started...

European Trip Planner

Published: January 1, 2020

Idea:

An online gathering place for backpackers, students, and families traveling to Europe to share trip ideas, download trip itineraries, book local tours, trains, accommodations, airfare, connect with other travelers, budget for their trips, store and share their trip details, and a lot more.

This is the grand-daddy of my ideas – the largest and the one closest to my heart. This is the project I should have focused on 20 years ago and should be the one that is providing me my financial freedom now. Maybe I should solely focus on this and not any of the others, but since I have never completed this project, I am going to follow the advice of successful makers, and build out an MVP version of this with the expectation that i may have to move on to something else if it does not gain traction.

Also: A graphical tool showing your current income vs. the daily increase of your start-up revenue, with a focus on the point where you need to get your revenue to to outpace your salary. A nice display of how close you are to becoming financially independent and going full time with your start-up.
